4 WAYS TO FOSTER HEALTHY CULTURE WITHIN YOUR REMOTE TEAM

All of the recent changes to normal work environments has caused a lot of confusion surrounding culture within the workplace. If everyone is working remotely, how can you ensure our employees feel engaged and are productive? Here are 4 Wways to foster healthy culture within your remote team.

  1. Communicate, communicate, communicate! Along with email & messaging apps, add in regular video conferences so team members can see each other and nurture their relationships remotely! Hold regular 1:1s & communicate consistently. Maintain transparency and gauge stress levels.
  2. Focus on the positive- Share wins and collaboration spotlights throughout the week by focusing on results that reinforce the company’s mission, vision, and values. Once a week give a chance for team members to share personal wins- it’s time to embrace the humanity of your remote team!
  3. Create mini groups & task forces- Build accountability and collaboration even while remote. With in-person training out the window, this gives everyone a chance to teach the group & amp up their leadership skills. Spark innovation and be open to new ideas.
  4. Engage your teams- Pick one topic and facilitate conversation during team phone meetings/video calls to keep connection and personal touch going within your remote teams!
  • Send a photo of your “home office”!
  • If you have a spouse or children, how are you coworking or homeschooling?
  • How are you adjusting to your new routine & finding normalcy?
  • Are you adding in any new & exciting activities while not having to commute?
  • What are you learning and reflecting on during this experience?
  • What new habits are you creating and forming?
  • Have you set aside time for physical, mental, and emotional breaks?
  • Are you keeping a positive mindset? How?
  • How do you stay informed?
  • What are some ways we as a team take this opportunity to create resilience, out of the box thinking, process improvement, and team building?
