CULTURE CONNECTIVITY FOR YOUR PURPOSE, PEOPLE AND PROCESSES.
Things are officially opening up again! The energy is high and workplaces are scrambling to figure out a plan for returning to the office.
Some companies have chosen to stay remote for various reasons.
Don’t fret! If this is you, there’s a way for company culture to still thrive in a remote setting. It just requires a different approach.
Here are some suggestions on How to instill company culture remotely (yes, it’s possible!)
Communicate, communicate, communicate!
Email and messaging apps are a great start to communicating. Integrating regular video conferences allows team members the space to nurture their relationships. Additionally, hold regular one on ones. Communicate consistently, maintain transparency, and gauge stress levels.
This might look different for each company depending on size and purpose.
Highlight the positives
Share wins and collaboration spotlights throughout the week by focusing on results that reinforce the company’s mission, vision, and values. Once a week, give team members a chance to share personal wins—it’s time to embrace the humanity of your remote team. This might feel forced at first but will soon become a normal part of the routine.
Train your employees
Build accountability and collaboration even while remote. This can include in-person training out the window. Training gives everyone a chance to teach the group and amp up their leadership skills.
Training can be facilitated to smaller groups, which provide a safer, less intimidating space for learning and conversation. Spark innovation and be open to new ideas.
Engage your teams
Pick one topic, then facilitate conversation during team phone meetings and video calls. This will foster connection and the personal touch within your remote teams!
Thanks to technology, the options for engagement are limitless. Here are a couple of conversation starters for your team chats.
At Culture Works, we recognize that company culture will look different for each organization. But Alan Webster says it best, “Without communication and the team effort it permits, the successful completion of any important project can be jeopardized.” So, keep faith and continue to work toward that perfect culture-remote balance.
